1. Credit & Income Review – We will obtain your credit report, review your income and other application information. If you use a credit monitoring service or app, you may receive notification when we access your credit report. Within 30 days of submitting the application*, you will be notified of your status by email with one of the following:
- Decline/Adverse Action – If your application is declined, your notice will let you know the reasons why.
- Notice of Incomplete – If there is no initial reason to decline your application, we will request additional information to continue our review. This will include copies of paystubs, tax returns, other income information, bank statements, bills, credit card and loan statements, identification documents for the entire household, and other items specific to your situation. You will have two weeks to complete each request.
2. Additional Review – Once we review your additional information, we may find that your application did not meet the qualifications and will send an Adverse Action Notice. Otherwise, we will continue to verify all aspects of your eligibility.
3. Interview – This will be conducted by Habitat staff to review your eligibility and ensure your understanding of the program.
4. Home Visit – Two volunteer members of the Homeowner Selection Committee will conduct a home visit with you to understand your housing need and affirm your desire to partner with Habitat.
5. Partnership Decision – The Homeowner Selection Committee will vote to approve or decline your application. The committee typically meets monthly, and you will be notified of their decision once all votes have been received.
